Now here's a treat - a movie filmed in Murfreesboro called A Stranger In My Forest. I'll share a YouTube link to the whole film along with a whole bunch of screen shots I took. The film is a rather odd one about a boy's friendship with a bear. A stranger comes to town who has a self inflicted sword of Damocles hanging over his head. The boy's sister falls for the stranger. The actress in this role is Susan Backlinie who was the first victim in the previous year's Jaws. Some of my Murfreesboro friends that went to Campus School actually walked over to see some scenes being filmed in the fall of 1975. Here are articles written about the movie from The Daily News Journal. Sorry about the quality, but it's the best I can do.

Here are a bunch of screen caps I took while watching the short film. If you are from Murfreesboro I'm sure you'll see stuff you recognize. It's a short sample so if you want to see more then watch the film. All the screen grabs are captioned too. There were interior shots that were most likely done in the actual homes, but I can't confirm that. Maybe one day I will. There are also other scenes filmed at a shopping center that isn't in Murfreesboro plus shots filmed in the countryside and on either Percy Priest or Old Hickory Lake. Cinematography was by Robert Caramico who would be the Director of Photography a few years later for Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park

Early in the movie we go for a car ride with Central Middle in the background.

The brother and sister go to live with their grandmother. The Bishop house.

A recent Google Maps street view. 1027 East Main Street.

Driving around the square several times.

Heading to the hardware store.

Is this a hitman?

Always get a great parking spot in the movies.

Nice shot of McLellan's store.

Probably some locals getting a cameo here.

He just bought a shotgun at Holden's Hardware.

Note the Hub store sign in the background.

Artistic touch with a shot through the rake.

The Rutherford County jail exterior.

Our couple seem to get tailed.

This shot has them heading up N. Maney.
