Here's what played at the Cinema One located at 726 S. Tennessee Blvd in Murfreesboro, Tennessee from July 1977 through December 1977. The ads come from the Daily News Journal. Some trailers thrown in for good measure. This is one most readers of these "what played" at various movie theatre's posts have been waiting for as July 1977 was when Star Wars began playing at the Cinema One.
I have some friends that still insist to this day that they say Star Wars at the Martin Twin, but that's not right. While it would play the Martin owned Marbro Drive-In later, it only played at one sit down commercial movie house in Murfreesboro and that would be Cinema One. I vividly remember going to see it with my Mother. We sat in the back of a completely packed house and it was absolutely marvelous on the huge Cinema One screen. Perhaps my misremembering friends have bad motivators or perhaps saw it in Nashville and are just mixed up. It wasn't uncommon for films to play both the Martin Twin and Cinema One at various times, but it's just not the case this time. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Star Wars practically bankrolled the Cinema over the next year or so. It was a complete pop culture sensation and nothing since has even come close. Remember always, "Han shot first!"
