January 25, 1985 (Revisiting the Past)

I'm going back through what comprised my senior year of high school and first semester of college in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Come along for the ride. New posts every day or so mixed in with other things.

January 25, 1985. The county schools were back in session (but not for long as more snow was coming) which meant the big Riverdale vs. Oakland basketball game was on for Friday night January 25, 1985. The Patriots had been without a couple of their star players in the first meeting of the season so their reason to believe it would be a different game this time. The Patriots had long been a basketball powerhouse and had only lost twice during the season. It was going to be epic.

It was great to finally see a basketball game again after being stuck at home since the snow came on Saturday. I don't know when it had started, but Warriors fans had taken to throwing rolls of toilet paper unto the court after the Warriors scored their first basket. I definitely remember it happening on this night at Oakland. The Patriots would hold the Warriors to less than their 75 points per game average, but Riverdale would still remain unbeaten with the Corder brothers stealing the show on this night.
