December 7, 1984. The House of Blue Leaves controversy at Riverdale merits one more article plus the official Daily News Journal editorial opinion that would be in the December 10th paper. Jamie Sue Linder really liked the term "play flap" for some reason. So many years have gone by since this controversy happened and I doubt many even remember how big the story was back then. The passage of time now makes this whole incident seem to be (if I can quote the bard himself) "much ado about nothing."
Oakland High School would soon be playing in the state title game, but the Riverdale Warriors had a great season in 1984 too. Cephes Butler got Warrior of the Year and it was well deserved.
