I'm going back through what comprised my senior year of high school and first semester of college in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Come along for the ride. New posts every day or so mixed in with other things.
October 3, 1984. It is homecoming week at Riverdale! Lincoln County will be our opponents on Friday night....who in the heck scheduled them for homecoming....shouldn't homecoming be an easy win instead of facing a team that in the 80's was always a state championship contender and was currently ranked 2nd in the state? Plus, the Warriors had upset Lincoln County for 2 years in a row. It would be a tough game. I'll have more about Warrior Week later this week with some yearbook scans.

The other big news of the day on October 3, 1984 was not good. Former Oakland High School football coach Bobby Morton had died from a self inflicted gunshot. I attended Oakland my freshman year of high school and Coach Morton had a great reputation among the students. He must have hid his troubles well.
