August 10, 1984 (Revisiting the Past)

This is a diary of sorts chronicling August, 1984 through to December 1985 or somewhere thereabouts. Check back every day or so for new entries.

August 10, 1984. Movies: Cinema Twin - Revenge of the Nerds and Purple Rain, Martin Four: Ghostbusters, Cloak and Dagger, The Karate Kid, The Muppets Take Manhattan while the Marbro Drive-In is showing 4 Burt Reynolds films: Cannonball Run, Cannonball Run II, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, and Hooper. It's the first official day of high school football practice - season to begin Sept 7. My senior year of high school is drawing ever nearer.

The Jacksons are playing the first of 3 shows at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville tonight on their Victory Tour. It was the event of the summer for many people. I would not get to go. If you went, let me know in the comments. Death threats almost got the shows cancelled, but they would happen with no issues. Here's a short blurb from the August 10, 1984 Tennessean.
