August 31, 1984 (Revisiting the Past)

I'm going back through what comprised my senior year of high school and first semester of college in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Come along for the ride. New posts every day or so mixed in with other things.

August 31, 1984. It's Friday night and that means movies! And the beginning of a pre-season football tradition that may still be going on; it was the first Rutherford County Football Jamboree. Riverdale would play Smyrna for a half while Oakland would take on the Hendersonville Commandos for a half. First up, here are the movies you could see in Murfreesboro. 

Prince is back at the Cinema Two!!

I was surprise to learn that the Football Jamboree on this night was the first one ever for Rutherford County schools. I may have gone to this since I was now driving the Impala. The Riverdale Warriors had lost 19 players to graduation and only returned 4 full time starters. Come back tomorrow and find out the results!
